Joining Forces: A Hello Neighbor Fanfic
By JJ
Summary: The truth about Lucy Yi's death.
Quentin Gershowitz was just about to get in his car before someone called out to him.
"Hey, you!"
He looked through the rear view mirror and saw that it was a kid with brown hair, teal shirt, brown shorts, and goggles. He got out of his car and went over to the kid.
"First of all, kid. My name isn't "Hey, you!", it's Quentin. See? Says it right here on my name tag.", said Quentin as he pointed to his name tag. "And you are...?"
"Nicky.", said the kid. "My name is Nicky."
Quentin's eyes widened. "Wait a minute, I recognize you.", he said, "My assistant has a crush on you, doesn't she? She has a picture of you."
Nicky was speechless for a moment, then he shook his head. "Nevermind. Who told you about Lucy Yi?"
The journalist tapped his chin as he thought about it, "I don't really remember, probably someone at the banner. Why?"
"Because whoever told you that Mr. Peterson followed her into the Fear Room fun house and she was never seen again is a bullshit liar."
Quentin's eyes widened once again, "Hey, watch your language.", then he looked around. "Come with me."
Nicky followed Quentin into his van and they shut the door.
"Now what's this about Lucy Yi's story being fake?", asked Quentin.
Nicky looked down at his shoes, "She's not missing, she didn't go into the Fear Room.", he said.
Quentin knew it was risky listening to a kid who probably doesn't even know anything about these sorts of things, but he wasn't the type of adult who didn't listen to kids when they tried to talk. So maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing to hear him out. "Alright, kid. What do you think happened to Lucy?"
Nicky reached into his pocket and pulled out a long forgotten newspaper article and showed it to Quentin.
7 YEAR OLD GIRL, LUCY YI, VICTIM OF ROTTEN CORE ROLLERCOASTER
"It was supposed to be the best day ever for all of us.", said Nicky, "I've never been to an amusement park before, and all of my friends wanted to make sure I had the best time. Then when Rotten Core was finally announced, we sat together. The ride was out of control and started running too fast, and the carts just flew off the tracks and landed in the woods. ...Lucy was the only one who didn't survive."
Quentin's eyes widened for a third time. "Oh my God."
"Everyone was completely distraught. Her parents, her friends, me, and everyone else in town who knew Lucy.", said Nicky, his voice turning emotionless.
"How do you even know this, kid?"
Nicky looked at Quentin directly in the eye, "Because she was one of my best friends.", he said. "I remember crying a river at her funeral, and when I heard that people were making up a story about her going into the Fear Room, I was beyond pissed. They know how she died, so why was everyone trying to cover it up?"
The journalist put a hand on the boy's shoulder, "I guess some people just don't want to accept the truth.", he said. "Especially when it comes to death."
"Psh, that's no excuse."
Nicky got out of the car, but not before giving Quentin one final glance. "Whoever you're getting your information from is not to be trusted, you need real leads, the real story, and a real source.", he said. He closed the door of the van and walked away.
Meanwhile, Quentin was still reading the article, still so taken by surprise that the story he was told about Lucy's disappearance was nothing but a lie.
Maybe he did need to join forces with these kids, they seem to know more about this town than he thought.

"I Want to Explore...History!"
PART I OF THE "I'm Bored" SERIES
Hello everyone! And welcome to part I of the "I'm Bored" series I made in collaboration with @alvaconsumesmedia!
Below you will find a list of different historical content I personally recommend you research and consume if you find yourself bored and wanting to explore the world of history!
If you have any questions about this list, want more information about a person or event than is listed, or wish to make a recommendation as to what should be added, send me a message to my ask box!!
HISTORY TOPICS TO RESEARCH:
[LIST] The Sumerians, Reading Recs.・located in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia, emerging during the Chalcolithic and early Bronze Ages between the sixth and fifth millennium BC were the Sumerians - the oldest recorded civilzation in the entire world....also they invented writing, literature, and beer, so you know they were fun.
The Sedlec Ossuary・also known as the Church of Bones, the Sedlec Ossuary, located in the Czech Republic, is one of the most unusual chapels you will ever see as it is decorated with the real bones of some 40,000 people.
The Great Molasses Flood of 1917・if an inescapable tsunami wave of molasses charging 35 miles per hour toward you seems impossible...you should have been there to see it in Boston in 1919.
The Mouse Utopia Experiments・if you ever wondered what the horrifying real story that inspired The Rats of NIMH was...well you've found it here.
Subtropolis・SubTropolis is a business complex located 150 feet underground in an artificial cave in the bluffs north of the Missouri River in Kansas City, Missouri made out of an old mine that was, at one time, supposed to be an amusement park.
The Dancing Plague of 1518・a plague that hit the town of Strasbourg in 1515 that caused as many as 400 people to dance until they died.
The Demonic Possessions of Loudun・The best-known case of possession in Western European history took place in the French town of Loudun at the Church of Saint Peter where no nun was safe from demon possession.
The Tower of Silence・A dakhma, also known as a Tower of Silence was a structure built by Zoroastrians made to store decomposing dead bodies to keep them away from the city as to avoid contamination of the soil.
The Game of Hounds and Jackals・a popular game played in 1805 by the Egyptians. A copy of the game can be found today in The Met.
The Bloody Bender Murders・in the 1870s the Bender family opened an Inn in Labette County in Kansas and began murdering people who came to visit.
ART HISTORY TOPICS TO RESEARCH:
The "Le génie du mal" and the "L’ange du mal"・the St. Paul Cathédrale de Liège in Belgium, once upon a time, hired two artists both to make statues of the Devil to place in their church and, unfortunately for the nuns of St. Paul Cathédrale de Liège they were done just a little too well.
Albert Kahn's Archive of The Planet・It was Kahn's dream to document the entire world via photography, from 1909 and 1931 his team dispatched to accomplish this goal. However, when the great depression hit his dreams were smashed.
HISTORICAL FIGURES TO RESEARCH:
Carvaggio・Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, known mononymously as Caravaggio, was an Italian painter active in Rome, disliked by many during his time for his arrogance, his rebellious nature...oh yeah, and he was a murderer.
Violet Jessop・Violet Constance Jessop was an Irish-Argentine ocean liner stewardess and nurse in the early 20th century who managed to survive THREE shipwrecks in her time, including the titanic!
Kate Warne・Kate Warne was none other than the first female detective in the United States, who worked for the Pinkerton National Detective Agency - the same agency that inspired many of the original Sherlock novels.
Hatshepsut・Hatshepsut was the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Thutmose II and, after his passing, was made the first ever Queen of Egypt...so why has no one ever heard of her?
Ching Shih・Zheng Yi Sao, also known as Shi Xianggu, Shek Yeung and Ching Shih, was the leader of the largest recorded pirate fleat to ever exist from 1801 to 1810 in China...also the pirate queen in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies was based on her...not really important but I think that's pretty cool.
Marie Vigoreaux・Marie Vigoreaux, was a French fortune teller and an active part of the famous Poison Affair of the 1670s.
Olga of Kiev・Olga was a regent of Kievan Rus' for her son Sviatoslav from 945 until 957 who is famously known for taking revenge on entire city by mass murdering them and then, after the deed was done, converted to Catholicism and becoming a patreon saint afterward...and, yes, she is still honored as a saint in Ukraine to this day
Wu Zetian・Wu Zetian, personal name Wu Zhao, was the first and only Empress of China, who ruled from 660 to 705 and she would do anything to ensure that she stayed in charge.
Julie D'Aubigny・Julie d'Aubigny, better known as Mademoiselle Maupin or La Maupin, was a French opera singer....but what's more exciting is that she was a bisexual, cross-dressing, swords-woman, and murderer.
Alexander the Great・Alexander the Great was the king of Macedonia (336–323 bce), who overthrew the Persian empire, carried Macedonian arms to India, and laid the foundations for the Hellenistic world of territorial kingdoms.
HOLLYWOOD HISTORY TO RESEARCH:
The Ava Gardner, Barbara Payton, Lana Turner Love Affair・known as the most scandalous love affair in Hollywood, Gardner, Payton, and Turner were secretly sleeping together for years....and Frank Sinatra was not happy about it.
NONFICTION HISTORICAL BOOKS TO READ:
[LIST] Medieval Religion, Reading Recs.・my list of reading recommendations to help you learn more about religion during the medieval ages.
ARTICLES TO READ:
"What Does God Smell Like?" by John Last・Unusual smells have been a distinguishing mark of holiness since the earliest days of Christian worship, so what is the smell of God?
That's all for history exploration! I hope that this helped you in curing your boredom! if you have any questions regarding anything discussed here or if you'd like to make a request to be added to the list, please send an ask to my ask box! I appreciate all comments and questions!

Happy late Valentine's Day!!!! How would the companions spend this day with a romanced Messenger? If any of them celebrates it? 🤔🤔🤔
Happy belated Valentine's Day! Doing a modern AU for this ask for a change, thought it might be fun like this.
Ishraq
He goes with sentimental, like bringing the Messenger to their favourite part of the area and preparing a photo collage of their fondest moments.
He tends to go with the flow and follow whatever feels right at the moment. So they might come across a river and decide to walk along it hand in hand or find a nice spot to watch the sunset, or even volunteer. Overall very sweet and wholesome.
Deva
Somewhere flashy and fun, like a theme park or arcade or concert. Deva loves chasing the high and this day is no exception. She is up for anything that the Messenger suggests as long as it's exciting.
Either that or something to pick her brain like trivia night. She loves a challenge and be kept on her toes. Bring it on, she will say, better to try and fail than to not try at all.
Yi-feng
They might start off with something a little fancy, like a nice restaurant. Somewhere he can spoil the Messenger with their favourite foods.
Then, with a secretive smile he pulls out some of their guilty pleasures - alcohol, junk food, whatever it may be - and that's when the day really starts. He is basically a head prefect who knows where all the confiscated stuff are locked away.
Yeshe
Somewhere cosy, like home. There are many things they can do in the comforts of their home, like movie marathons and cooking. As they say, there is no place like home.
Yeshe prefers spending their time with the Messenger somewhere quiet, comfortable and private. Other appealing activities beyond the walls of their houses include animal-themed cafes and museums.

Annals of Emperor Wen of Zhou, 538 (ZS02)
[Heqiao proves a bridge too far.]
[Datong 4, 15 February 538 – 3 February 539]
4th Year, Spring, 3rd Month [15 April – 13 May], Taizu led the various generals to enter court. After the rites concluded, he went back to Hua province.
7th Month [11 August – 9 September], Eastern Wei dispatched their generals Hou Jing, Shedi Gan, Gao Aocao, Han Gui, Kezhuhun Yuan, Moduolou Daiwen and others to besiege Dugu Xin at Luoyang. Shenwu of Qi cut off his rear. Before this, the Wei Emperor wanted to favour Lyoyang to do obeisance at the parks and mounds. When it happened that Xin was besieged, he decreed Taizu to lead the army and rescue Xin. The Wei Emperor likewise went east.
8th Month, gengyin [12 September], Taizu arrived at Gucheng. Moduolou Daiwen and Kezhuhun Yuan came to confront him. He approached the battle line and beheaded Daiwen. Yuan managed to escape on a single horse. He thoroughly took captive their multitudes and sent them off to Hongnong. Thereupon he advanced the army to east of the Chan [river]. That evening the Wei Emperor favoured Taizu's camp, and so Jing and others at night abandoned the siege and left.
Reaching dawn, Taizu led light cavalry to pursue them, and arrived at the banks of the He. Jing and others to the north occupied Heqiao [“He Bridge” and to the south they linked up with Mang Mountain as their battle line, and joined battle with the various armies. Taizu's horse was hit by a flying arrow. It was startled and broke loose, and thereupon he lost it [the horse that is]. Following that, within the army was disturbance and chaos. Chief Controller Li Mu went down from his horse to offer it to Taizu, and the army was again roused. Hence there was a great victory. They beheaded Gao Aocao and his Ceremony Similar Li Meng, Inspector of Xiyan province, Song Xian, and others and took captive 15 000 of his armoured soldiers. Those who went into the He and died was in the ten thousands.
That day the deployed battle lines had been long, with head and tail far apart, and had joined in battle tens of times. Mist and fog blocked on four sides and they were not able to recognize each other. Dugu Xin and Li Yuan were on the right and Zhao Gui and Yi Feng were on the left. In the battles they had all been unsuccessful, also they knew not yet where the Wei Emperor and Taizu were located. They all abandoned their soldiers ahead and turned back home. Opening Office Li Hu, Nian Xian, and others were the rear army. When they came across Xin and the others' retreat, they promptly altogether went back with them. Because of this, he turn around the host. Luoyang likewise lost its defenders.
The Great Army arrived at Hongnong. The defending generals had all abandoned their cities and fled west. Those captive and surrendered soldiers who were in Hongnong had following that been closing the gates against them to resist and defend. They advanced to attack and root them out, and executed their main leaders, several hundred people.
During the Great Army's eastern offensive, the troops who had been kept behind to defend Guanzhong were few, and from front to rear there were captive Eastern Wei soldiers, all had been scattered among the people, who therefore plotted to make chaos. When Li Hu and others arrived at Chang'an, nothing of their plan had been carried out. He therefore, together with the excellencies and dignitaries, assisted Wei's Heir-Apparent to set out and stay north of the Wei. Guanzhong greatly shook in fear and the hundred families were plundering and pillaging each other.
Hence an army man imprisoned at Shayuan, Zhao Qingque, a commoner from Yong province, Yu Fude, and others consequently rebelled. Qingque occupied Chang'an's lesser city and Fude guarded Xianyang. They, together with Grand Warden Murong Siqing, each gathered surrendered soldiers with which to resist the returning host. In Chang'an's greater city the people all led each other to resist Qingque. Each day there were continuous battles.
The Wei Emperor halted and stayed behind at Wenxiang, and dispatched Taizu to chastise them. The old fathers in Chang'an saw that Taizu arrived, and with both grief and joy said:
Did not think that today [we] would again get to see His Excellency!
Gentlemen and women, everyone congratulated each other.
The Inspector of Hua province, Dao, led an army to assail Xianyang, behead Siqing and seize Fude. He went south across the Wei to meet up with Taizu to attack Qingque, they routed him. The Grand Tutor, Liang Jingrui, had previously stayed behind at Chang'an due to illness, and then he had communicated and planned with Qingque. Reaching this point he also submitted to execution. Guanzhong hence was then settled. The Wei Emperor returned to Chang'an and Taizu again stationed in Hua province.
Winter, 11th Month [7 December – 5 January], Eastern Wei's general Hou Jing attacked and captured Guang province.
12th Month [6 January – 3 February], Shiyun Bao assailed Luoyang. Eastern Wei's general Wang Yuangui abandoned the city and fled. Chief Controller Zhao Gang assailed Guang province and took it. From Xiang and Guang and westward the cities and garrisons again belonged inside.

Chapter 3: Frosty Goodbye
Narrated by Qin Yi.
~Content Warning: child abuse~
Narrator: The next day, a powerful blizzard hit Cloudcrest. Freezing winds find their way into my room.
Narrator: Mother was still not home.
Narrator: I was still wearing my new clothes. I kept them on all night.
Narrator: Walking home, the snow covered me from head to toe.
Narrator: I must have woken up from the hunger.
Choose “Maybe there’s something to eat outside.”
You: Maybe some food-stalls were open.
Narrator: It was too cold, and they were all closed. No leftovers today.
Narrator: I would have to think of something else.
Narrator: Yeah. Sometimes we all do things we’re not proud of in order to survive.
Narrator: In the slums of Sunnyville, the residents shared a communal kitchen.
Narrator: There was always food there. If I was lucky, I might be able to steal a bite to eat.
Madam: Thief!
Sir: He’s getting away!
Narrator: Oh, well. My luck was bound to run out eventually.
Narrator: People of the slums had to be tough in order to survive.
Narrator: Stealing was not tolerated, even if it was done by a kid.
Sir: How dare you steal, kid!
Young Qin Yi: Sorry, I’m sorry. Don’t hit me...
Madam: How else are you going to learn?
Young Qin Yi: I won’t. I promise. Don’t hit me...
Narrator The commotion had attracted a crowd. The hitting and kicking started to subside.
Elderly Person: Ah, that’s enough already. The child’s got no mother. Have some pity.
Madam: No wonder! No one to teach him what’s what.
Young Qin Yi: Who says I don’t have a mother?!
Narrator: The kicks and punches were long forgotten, yet I can still remember how good that stolen sweet potato tasted.
Narrator: My new clothes were torn and dirty. The cold wind stung my skin.
Narrator: The fact my New Year’s wish came true was but a distant memory.
Narrator: The winter wind became stronger, blowing away the vestiges of my dream.
Young Qin Yi: So... cold... I wonder how the fawn’s doing.
Narrator: The snow was still falling; the park was completely deserted.
Narrator: The fawn was curled up under a bush. When he saw me, he lurched to his feet and came over to nuzzle me.
Narrator: I saw my reflection in his bright eyes. I looked terrible.
Young Qin Yi: Little guy, I picked some nuts for you.
Narrator: He lay down next to me and ate the nuts out of my hand, his warm tongue licking my palm.
Narrator: I was silent for a long time, feeling his warmth.
Young Qin Yi: It doesn’t matter if you don’t grant me any more wishes, fawn.
Narrator: Even as I told him it didn’t matter, my tears kept falling.
Young Qin Yi: I wish... Mother would come come home and spend the New Year with me. I don’t want to spend it alone.
Narrator: I didn’t think it was a big thing to ask.
Narrator: But even this wish was too much.
Narrator: It was like life was taunting me. Things only got worse after that.
Choose “What happened?”
You: What happened?
Narrator: So many things happened... Not long after, I decided to go and see the fawn one last time.
Narrator: The silvery moonlight lit up the park like a Starsnow cake.
Narrator: The light highlighted the flowers on my new clothes. Those were the only thing I took with me when I left Cloudcrest.
Narrator: They were the only wish that came true.
Narrator: Not seeing me for a long time, the fawn leapt out of the shrub happily.
Narrator: I didn’t kneel down and hug him as usual, but just pat him on the head.
Young Qin Yi: I’m leaving Sunnyville, little guy. I’m going to Zither River. You won’t see me for a long time.
Young Qin Yi: I finally understood that wishes would never come true.
Young Qin Yi: I can handle being poor, or bullied, or not having a father, or the cold...
Young Qin Yi: But why... why... WHY did she have to leave me?
Narrator: The fawn looked up at me. I saw myself reflected in his eyes.
Narrator: My face looked bitter. There were no more tears left to cry.
Young Qin Yi: I’m not making any more wishes.
Young Qin Yi: I’m going, fawn.
Narrator: You hear me? Goodbye, fawn.
Narrator: As I walked away, I could sense the sad-eyed fawn looking at me.
Narrator: For some reason, I didn’t look back.
Narrator: The snow fell all around me.
Narrator: That was the last time I saw him.

Even in the Siege of Seogyeong, Kim Bu-shik predicted a night attack by Seogyeong and dispatched 1,000 reserve troops to the rear army south of the Daedonggang River. It was Kim Bu-sik's strategy that led to a long-term battle.[12] There was an attempt to impeach Kim Pu-sik as the war dragged on with Seogyeong under siege. This is because Kim Pu-sik believed that Seogyeong's function itself should be maintained, and he tried to subdue Seogyeong with minimal damage while dragging it into a long-term battle. It is true that Kim Bu-shik kept in check Jeong Ji-sang and Yun Eon-i in a disrespectful way during the suppression of the Myocheong uprising, but apart from that, it can be said that the strategic insight required of the commander-in-chief was sufficient. After Uijong took the throne for his meritorious service, Kim Pu-sik was sealed as the posthumous post of Nakrang-gun (樂浪郡 開國侯).
After the removal of the Seogyeongpa, the Gaegyeongpa family aristocrats gained power, and Kim Bu-sik rose to the highest official position in Goryeo, Mun Ha-si-jung [13]. And the inevitable internal division begins, and the representative one is the confrontation with Yun Eon-yi, who attacked the Seogyeong faction along with Kim Bu-shik.[14] Yoon Eon-yi, who is also the 4th son of Yun Kwan, is a member of the Papyeong Yun family and was also one of the leading aristocrats in Goryeo. [15] Finally, an amnesty order was issued to Yoon Uni, who had been demoted by Kim Bu-shik, and he returned to the central political world, and Kim Bu-shik petitioned for retirement several times.
[Samguksagi] was made by Kim Bu-shik, who was about to retire, under the command of Injong to restore the lost history. Kim Pu-shik is only a general producer and director, but he did not write Samguk Sagi on his own. However, considering Kim Pu-sik's position, it is difficult to deny that the contents strongly reflected the influence of Kim Pu-sik and his forces. Choi San-bo, Lee Ion-moon, Heo Hong-jae, Seo Hwang-jeong, Park Dong-gye, Lee Hwang-jung, Choi Woo-bo, Kim Yeong-eun, Kim Chung-hyo, and Jeong Seub-myeong participated in the compilation of the Samguk Sagi. . The criteria for compilation were all determined by Kim Pu-shik, and even looking at the history presumed to have been added by Kim Pu-sik, it is assumed that Kim Pu-sik's intentions, along with the king's writing policy, acted as two major axes.
